I've been seeing a lot of posts about creatine because this effective strength-building supplement is being championed for its proposed cognitive benefits.
Thanks so much for your review of the evidence! I'm one of the few who get rather severe GI side effects so I keep my supplementation at only 1/4t daily. I lift weights and do HIIT and would looove if I were getting some cognitive benefits. Not noticing any muscle or brain benefits. Based on your review, when I run out I think I won't bother buying more.
My muscles get more “poofy” with creatine, but that's the only benefit I can determine. If there is a mental benefit, I can't tell, but I'm in my 12th year of a keto diet, which I have found provides a lot of mental benefits.
Funnily enough, since starting creatine all ive noticed is weight gain, and i feel noticeably more alert and feel i have more energy. No improvement in strength or amount of excercise i can endure
I just happened to get back blood results which show my creatinine levels are below the normal range - should I be concerned (dr doesn't seem to be!) Appreciate you can't give individual advice, just literally wondering if I should worry and pursue it with my GP? Thanks!
Thanks for your informative article. What is the link between Serum Creatine Kinase and Creatine? I am an elderly ex middle distance runner and have a sudden large increase in muscle fatigue and a recent blood test showed abnormally high CK levels. The problem is under investigation. I suspect a couple of contributory factors.
I recently started taking creatine. If it helps strength that is good enough for me. I do interval training with weights. I have forearm over use issues and back pain that I want to address.

Thank you for another great piece, have you dug the vascular effects of creatine ? maybe a bit of benefits on this side ?

Thank you so much for this 🙏
You’re a rock to cling to in a very unsettled sea 😊
Finally, something to blame my thinning hair on!
How heavy do you lift?
